The Psychiatric Technician assists in providing nursing care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in the Behavioral Health Unit. They work under the coordination of an RN or LPN to deliver patient-centric care.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Associate Degree and/or Bachelors in human services field preferred.
Minimum
Experience: : One year of experience in Behavioral Health or a related human services field is preferred.
Required
Certification/Registration:
BLS (CPR) certification.
EKG training/competency must be completed prior to being released from unit orientation, must maintain BLS certification and EKG Competency throughout duration of employment.
Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
Physical
Requirements: Position will primarily be medium to light work requiring lifting with lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching are required. Position requires 20% sitting and 80% standing or walking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken and written word is required.
