Phlebotomy Technician 1- Lab- FT- 1st Shift
Obtains blood specimens from patients and ensures they are correctly identified and delivered to the laboratory. Manages specimen transport and maintains strict patient confidentiality.
Overview Obtains blood specimens from patients and delivers specimens to the laboratory and/or sends through the transport system. Correctly identifies patients and specimens.
Education High School diploma or GED required. MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry preferred. Experience Previous work experience strongly preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in the patient identification process. Must complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
