Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and ensure the technical accuracy of examinations for radiologists. Identify patients, review charts, and maintain proper anatomical orientation and identification on all images.
Education: Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology; associate's degree preferred. Previous work experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care environment is preferred Licensure/Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Certification by Texas Department of health (students will have a temporary license only). BLS required Skills: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas. Knowledge of radiographic examinations as well as procedures that require the use of contrast agents. Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety. Knowledge of patient transfers and positioning technique. Must possess a positive and courteous attitude, and take the initative to go beyond what is expected in a teamwork environment.
