About the role

The ECT Registered Nurse provides medical management and assessment for patients undergoing Electroconvulsive Therapy across pre-procedural, procedural, and recovery phases. They are responsible for ensuring environmental safety, providing emergent care during crises, and documenting patient care within the master treatment plan.

Responsibilities

  • The ECT Registered Nurse (RN) provides medical management and assessment of patients receiving Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
  • Ensures environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population while providing bedside support and assessment in coordination with Anesthesiology and the treating Psychiatrist throughout the pre-procedural phase, the ECT procedure, and post-anesthesia recovery phase.
  • Provides emergent nursing care in the event of medical crisis/emergency.
  • Makes patient & task assignments to subordinates & monitors their performance of duties.
  • Provides training & education to staff, patients, families, & others.
  • Documents patient care; ensures that data is accurate, & that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates.
  • Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited nursing school

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Tennessee State Registered Nurse License Current BCLS Certification Current ACLS Certification REQUIRED before start

  • Experience: One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults and adolescents preferred. One year acute medical nursing experience in Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Hours for this position are 6am-11am on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school with a current Tennessee State RN license and BCLS and ACLS certifications. Preferred experience includes one year of inpatient psychiatric care and one year of acute medical nursing in the ED, ICU, or PACU.
