About the role

Provide direct patient care and supervision on an inpatient mental health unit, including conducting assessments and leading skill-building groups. Assist patients with activities of daily living and implement de-escalation interventions under RN supervision.

Performs procedures for patients and provides technical services and support. Responsibilities

Complete mental health assessments, safety rounds, vital signs, weights, and assigned area-specific procedures in a timely and accurate manner. Provide therapeutic patient support through milieu and skill-building groups, one-on-one supervision, communication, and de-escalation assistance under RN direction. Assist patients with activities of daily living, call lights, simple procedures, specimen collection, and other care needs according to standards. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment while using a holistic approach that considers each patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, and safety needs. Demonstrate reliability, initiative, teamwork, openness to feedback, and commitment to quality care, customer service, and department goals.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health related field Required.

Experience

  • Previous healthcare and behavioral healthcare experience preferred.
  • License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in a mental health-related field is required, along with a valid driver's license. Candidates must possess or obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
