We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join a growing behavioral health team providing psychiatric services across hospital-based inpatient and outpatient settings in Orange County, New York.

This full-time opportunity offers a Monday through Friday schedule, comprehensive benefits, and the ability to practice within a highly collaborative healthcare environment focused on delivering exceptional psychiatric care to adult and geriatric populations.

Requirements

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing psychiatric follow-up visits
  • Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, cognitive disorders, behavioral disturbances, substance-related conditions, and chronic mental illness
  • Provide medication management, including initiation, adjustment, monitoring, and optimization of psychotropic medications
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and patient care conferences
  • Manage psychiatric care for both hospitalized patients and individuals receiving ongoing outpatient treatment
  • Perform risk assessments, crisis evaluations, and stabilization planning when clinically appropriate
  • Coordinate continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient settings to support successful treatment outcomes
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Educate patients and family members regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and available support resources
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within electronic medical record systems
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based psychiatric care practices
  • Contribute to a patient-centered culture focused on clinical excellence, safety, and positive outcomes
  • Required Qualifications
  • Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
  • Active and unrestricted New York State Nurse Practitioner license
  • Strong clinical foundation in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and psychopharmacology
  • Ability to work effectively within hospital and outpatient treatment environments
  • Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hospital psychiatry, behavioral health, consult-liaison psychiatry, or outpatient psychiatric practice
