  • Location: Radisson The primary work location for this role is at a new program at the Radisson hotel in Oakland. Training will occur at other locations in the Bay Area. This program is one of several Cardea Health transitional housing programs for medically complex and behaviorally vulnerable unhoused individuals. Cardea Health’s transitional housing programs work with a variety of different referring partners across Alameda County. Our transitional housing programs provide supportive services including onsite nurse and caregiver supports, transportation to medical appointments, meals, housing support linkage, and more.

  • Summary: A Personal Caregiver provides essential support to individuals who need assistance with daily activities due to age, illness, injury, or disability. This role focuses on ensuring the well-being, safety, and comfort of the person in their care, offering both physical and emotional support. Personal caregivers assist with personal hygiene, mobility, and light housekeeping. The position requires compassion, patience, and the ability to respond to the specific needs of the individual with attention and care.

About the Role

Job Duties: Personal Caregiving: Provide direct patient care as directed by nursing staff, following individual care plans and ensuring the dignity and safety of each resident Assist with daily living activities as needed (e.g., hygiene, dressing, bathing, feeding) and support resident mobility Facilitate resident communication with nursing staff, helping to arrange and accompany residents to appointments as needed Support residents’ relationships with primary care providers and other professionals, facilitating coordination of care Ensure compliance with infection control standards among staff and residents Promote resident wellness in collaboration with housing agencies, participating in population health and safety interventions on-site Contribute to immunization programs and other health initiatives at the shelter Respond to calls to the nursing station, addressing needs independently when appropriate Assist with light clerical tasks, including filing, making copies, and ensuring accurate, timely clinical documentation Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, initiating communication with medical personnel or emergency services as needed Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of all resident information Practice harm reduction principles to provide compassionate, non-judgmental support for residents with substance use issues Site Janitorial: Clean and sanitize all common areas, resident rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and office spaces, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards Restock cleaning and hygiene supplies in resident and common areas Safely handle and store cleaning products in accordance with shelter protocols Handle waste disposal and recycling, keeping waste management areas clean and organized Inspect and address maintenance and cleanliness issues as they arise Set up and break down spaces for group activities or meetings as needed Minimum Required Skills & Qualifications: No license required Two years of experience in patient care Experience with janitorial and cleaning work Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Experience with homeless or incarcerated populations is highly desirable Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, and ascending stairs Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs Frequent pushing and pulling Frequent reaching high, low, and level Work Environment: In-person onsite at a supportive housing facility.
