  • Summary: The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has an opening for a PRN Surgical First Assistant Tech at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital.
  • Job duties:
  • Direct care includes practice in Perioperative, PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or Operating Room levels of care
  • Prepare operating room, equipment, and patient for surgery
  • Maintain sterile field and follow safety protocols
  • Assist surgeon by handling instruments and anticipating needs
  • Provide visibility of surgical site (retracting, suctioning, sponging)
  • Control bleeding and assist with suturing and wound closure
  • Positions patient using stabilizing equipment to give best exposure for surgical procedure while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Apply dressings and assist with patient transfer after surgery
  • Ensure accurate counts of instruments and supplies
  • Document involvement and support post-operative care

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. · High School diploma or GED. · One (1) year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position · Surgical Technologist program · Certified as a one of the following: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA; Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA; Surgical Assistant–Certified (SA-C) by ABSA. State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration. · Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
