Position overview

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients in a nursing home setting. The Certified Nursing Assistant will assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility while ensuring their comfort and safety. This role is vital in supporting the nursing staff and helping maintain a clean, organized environment that promotes the well-being of all residents.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, patience, and a commitment to delivering respectful and dignified care. Previous experience in long-term care or a related healthcare setting is preferred but not required. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a community-focused healthcare organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults throughout the Southern Tier and surrounding regions.

  • Job responsibilities
  • Provide basic patient care including assistance with activities of daily living and personal needs
  • Assist patients with eating and hydration by opening containers, cutting food, or feeding patients as directed by a registered nurse
  • Measure and record clinical measurements such as vital signs, patient weight, and intake and output
  • Ensure patients have a comfortable and safe environment by following patient rounding standards
  • Communicate regularly with nursing staff regarding patient condition according to unit protocols
  • Comply with organizational and departmental ergonomic and safety principles while performing all work activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position qualifications

Minimum Required

  • HS Diploma/GED and successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Trainee program
  • OR
  • Current CNA Certification
  • Valid CNA Certification
  • OR
  • Obtain within 12 months upon completion of CNA training.
