American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification; BLS certified Graduate Of Ama Accredited Radiology Program Or Equivalent

Job Description

1.Performs all routine and radiographic procedures- for certified techs includes Mobile Unit mammograms.

Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, application of immobilization and radiation protection devices.

2.Explains procedures to patient.

3.Documents examination type, time and date in log.

4.Wears radiation exposure badge at all times.

Ensures all non-trained associates wear badge as deemed appropriate.

5.Ensures patients are protected from radiation (as necessary) through proper use of lead aprons and questioning patients on pregnancy status.

6.Processor controls checked and documented each clinic day.

Reports any abnormalities promptly.

7.Assists with inventories and ordering supplies for the X-Ray division of the OH/Outreach department.

Rotates stock and eliminates outdated items.

8.Performs visual preventive safety inspections.

Reports dangerous equipment or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel.

9.Assists with maintenance of film badges and records as appropriate for staff in Outreach Clinic.

Promptly reports issues.

10.Performs per protocol QC/QA procedures as defined by MQSA.

Completes check list with each x-ray performed.

11.Performs all tasks as related to Mammograms. (teamwork) a.Assists with pulling old films and prepare documentation as needed for pre-registration of patients scheduled for mammograms on Mobile Unit. b.Responsible for hanging films to be read and return all films received from outside healthcare facilities. c.Assists with maintaining records on MRS system. d.Assists with follow up with medical provider and patients within turnaround times established by the standards.

12.Assist medical providers with epidural procedures. a.Maintains patient log. b.Does routine checks on equipment.

Reports issues promptly.

13.Demonstrates competency in utilization of departmental communication equipment.

Assists front desk personnel by answering phone calls, registering patients, faxing, medical records, and making referrals if needed.

Initiates patient callbacks as directed.

14.Assists with routine housekeeping tasks such as trash removal, disinfecting and cleaning exam tables.

Keep exam rooms adequately stocked.

15.Copy films of all patients referred to another facility or specialist office.

Develop and maintain sign-out log.

16.Checks x-ray reports against x-ray log.

Maintains log and retrieves reports for procedures done at SMH.

17.Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an AMA accredited Radiology Program or equivalent. Requires ARRT certification and BLS certification.
