Description People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking Treatment Counselor Float staff for our Crisis & IRTS programs. This position is responsible for the provision of direct intensive residential treatment and crisis stabilization mental health services by service interventions within a recovery and rehabilitative environment.

  • Duties: Demonstrate intermediate level of clinical knowledge and modeling as it relates to the individual’s goals, treatment plan and diagnosis. Provide and model crisis intervention and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional and/or behavioral responses while prioritizing client and program safety. Document interactions and interventions with clients, according to program requirements, into the organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and/or record-keeping system. Medication administration in accordance with organization and program policies and procedures.

  • Requirements: A portion of each float staff’s schedule will be preplanned, which means the float supervisor and float staff will commit to the float staff covering critical shifts at the programs. These are primarily evening, weekend, and overnight shifts. Float staff are responsible for meeting the rest of their designated full-time equivalency (FTE) by picking up open shifts or using ESST/PTO per the payroll and time off policies. Any eligibility for emergency shift pay (if applicable) would only occur after the required number of shifts have been fulfilled for the pay period. Float staff will be assigned a home program and mileage that exceeds a round trip from the float staff’s home to the assigned home program will be compensated for in mileage reimbursement. If needed a float staff may need to be pulled from their current location to another program to meet compliant staffing standards; this is an essential part of the float role.

  • Education and
  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or related field and proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; OR has completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field and: o Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; OR Has 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness; OR Has 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; OR Is fluent in the non-English language of the cultural group to which 50% of the practitioner’s clients belong; OR Has a high school diploma and 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with: Mental illness; OR Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness, substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; OR Is currently enrolled in a graduate-level behavioral sciences program at an accredited college or university and is formally assigned to the program for clinical training.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in behavioral science/related field with 4,000 hours of experience.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Upon hire must earn certification in First Aid and CPR training. Must complete 245I trainings and supervision as required by statute.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in behavioral science or equivalent supervised experience (2,000 to 4,000 hours depending on education level). Must obtain First Aid, CPR, and 245I certifications upon hire.
