The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
The RN supports professional nursing practice to meet the needs of the patient and family.
The RN is accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
The ANA Nursing along with Wisconsin State Statutes: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN.
The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role and quality improvement efforts.
The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources.
The RN must possess excellent communication skills; be enthusiastic about mentoring and teaching; and participate on committees or projects.
Provides skilled nursing care in accordance with Nurse Practice acts.
Follows the Standards of Nursing Care as well as the Nursing Process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while delivering high quality patient care.

Plans, implements, and documents a focused care plan with goals for each patient.

Continually strives to exceed patient experience standards in all interactions with customers, which includes patients, visitors, organization team members, and medical staff

The med/surg unit is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with high emotional intensity where you will care for patients with diverse, complex, and rapidly changing conditions. The workload can be heavy, so we focus on creating a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment to ensure patient centered care. There is the potential for exposure to infectious patients, harmful physical agents, and hazardous or toxic substances.
