About the role

The LPN is responsible for rooming patients, performing phlebotomy and injections, and managing triage phone calls. They will also assist physicians with examinations and document all patient interventions in medical records.

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support their Magee Women's Specialty Services OB/GYN office in Altoona, PA!

This position will work Monday through Friday, daylight hours, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays! This position will be responsible for rooming patients and chaperoning with the provider, injections, phlebotomy, triage Phone calls, and prior authorizations

The ideal candidate will have good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work in a busy, fast-paced practice. Previous OB/GYN experience is preferred but not required

  • $7,500 sign-on bonus available for nurses with over one year of experience

Responsibilities

Draw blood. Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip. Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight. Comply with all policies and procedures. Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse. Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record. Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. One year clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal Act 33 with renewal Act 34 with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an approved LPN school with a valid LPN license and CPR/BLS certification. One year of clinical experience and OB/GYN experience are preferred.
