About the role

The Monitor Tech is responsible for continuously observing heart rates and rhythms and documenting patient data on flow sheets. They must immediately report life-threatening rhythms to nursing staff and maintain monitoring equipment.

Position Summary

At Spartanburg Regional Healthcare, we are looking for exciting candidates that are interested in a role in Monitor Tech. With this role you will be performing tasks related to the monitoring of heart rates and rhythms under the leadership of our Registered Nurses. If you meet the following requirements, please apply! Minimum Requirements: Education High School Graduate or equivalent Experience One-year acute care experience Must be able to read, write and speak English Fluently License/Registration/Certifications BLS Certificate for successful completion of the arrhythmia course Preferred Requirements: Preferred Education N/A Preferred Experience N/A Preferred License/Registration/Certifications N/A Core Job Responsibilities

Performs Secretary Duties Basic Computer Skills Knowledgeable in use of and response to Code Alert Identifies areas for improvement and seeks ways to work on self-defined weaknesses Remains committed to unit, department, and division goals Attends continuing education classes for improvement offered at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Reports risk management concerns to appropriate person Adheres to proper chain of command.

Serve as an information resource for staff Maintains visual checks on monitors constantly until relieved by a qualified person.

Monitors are observed continuously, and the patient's rhythm is documented on flow sheet every eight (8) hours to include date, time, rate, rhythm, PR interval, QRS duration, rhythm interpretation, ST analysis.

Assures that alarms are maintained in the ON position at all times.

Reports mechanical difficulties to the appropriate person and follows up as necessary.

Reports any life-threatening rhythms or rhythms of significant change immediately to the nurse.

Notifies RN promptly when procedures are performed, i.e., removal of epicardial wires, pacemaker interrogation, etc.

Ensure individual telemetry units are cleaned after each use.

Admit and discharge patients from system in a timely manner.

Ensures proper disposition of competed flowsheets and any other patient records Maintains adequate supply of monitoring equipment.

Routinely reviews rhythm strips and the patient's condition with the nurse in a timely manner.
