The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS ) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis. This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation. Will additionally participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related science, along with ASCP or equivalent certification. Experience in Blood Bank operations is preferred.
