About the role

The Psychologist provides diagnostic interpretations, evaluations, and recommendations for individuals with developmental disabilities. They also collaborate with community agencies to improve the quality and availability of services for the population.

Psychologist (Bilingual Preferred) *See Accepted Languages Listed Below Bilingual Salary: $4,185.66 - $6,126.84 Bi-weekly; $108,827.16 - $159,297.84 Annual Non-Bilingual Salary: $4,065.66 - $6,006.84 Bi-weekly; $105,707.16 - $156,177.84 Annual The Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB) is one of 21 Regional Centers that are community-based, private non-profit corporations under contract with the California Department of Developmental Services. RCEB provides intake, assessment, diagnosis, and coordinates community-based services for over 25,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. RCEB envisions a future where persons with developmental disabilities are truly a part of the community. Persons with developmental disabilities receive supports and services they need to succeed. The supports and services change as the need changes. In our dream, children with developmental disabilities live with families in typical communities. Many choose to attend their neighborhood schools and play with neighborhood friends. Adults with developmental disabilities live in the residence of their choice – with family members, with friends, or with their spouse / significant other. They engage in activities of their choice – work, volunteering, education, training, or leisure. They have meaningful relationships with friends and coworkers and are seen as valuable, contributing members of their communities.

Duties

Client-Related Activities Provides diagnostic interpretation of available data. When appropriate, helps to obtain evaluations through the community. When necessary, provides evaluations of clients. Provides evaluations and/or recommendations on 1370.1 referrals. Participates in development implementation of individual program plans. Consults with clients, families, and community regarding appropriate programs. Acts as advocate for individual clients and their families.

Duties

Community-Related Activities Provides case-related consultation to other agencies. Evaluates programs and services available in the community. Works with peers in the community to increase number and quality of services available to the developmentally disabled population. Provides education to the community. Acts as advocate on behalf of the DD population. Informs RCEB management team of problems or lack of services in the community.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Psychology. One year’s experience with individuals with developmental disabilities. Experience in program evaluation and planning, differential diagnosis (preferred). Licensed as a Psychologist by the California Board of Psychology. Automobile and valid driver’s license required. Must be computer knowledgeable. Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity and an ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations. Fluency in English and one of the following languages preferred: Spanish, Korean, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Cantonese or Mandarin*.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Psychology and be licensed by the California Board of Psychology. A minimum of one year of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and a valid driver's license are required.
