- Summary: The MRI Technician operates MRI equipment to produce diagnostic MRI scans as directed by the radiologist and orthopedic physician. This individual assumes responsibility for the MRI suite and patients entering the area.
- Key
- Accountabilities: Productivity of 12-16 exams over 8 hours in two tech team, financially qualified and properly verified/coded. Patients offered same-day scans when able.
- Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Greets patient in the MRI waiting room and reviews the patient history form with the patient. Confirms authorization has been obtained and is in chart (if applicable) Establishes that it is safe for the patient to enter the magnet room. Prepares and positions the patient for the appropriate scan. Determines the need for contrast injection based on the criteria set forth by the radiologist. Proceeds with the scan according to the protocols established by the radiologist. Transmits completed study via PACS to the radiologist. Identifies that a "WET READING" is needed when necessary. Patients or physicians are provided a copy of the images on a CD. Provides a safe and comfortable environment for the patient and staff. Maintains order and cleanliness. Ensures that equipment is in working order. Reports all malfunctions to the appropriate service engineer and the Office Manager. Participates in the training of new employees. Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED minimum education requirement Successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with continued studies in MRI required MRI registration licensure required Must have knowledge of x-ray procedures Ability to operate all equipment and machinery, including processors, required Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite Must be capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
