At WakeMed, we’re looking for a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and has a strong interest or background in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT).

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work across WakeMed locations, bringing high-quality respiratory care directly to our patients where they are.

What You’ll Do In this dynamic role, you’ll provide comprehensive respiratory care for patients of all ages across a variety of settings.

Your day-to-day will include: Performing pulmonary diagnostics and respiratory therapy procedures, with a focus on pulmonary testing (preferred) Conducting thorough patient assessments and recommending appropriate treatment plans Monitoring patient response to therapy, including vitals, ABGs, and clinical changes Delivering hands-on patient care, including therapeutic treatments and education Responding to Code Blue situations and supporting airway management and resuscitation efforts Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes Setting up and managing equipment such as ventilators, gas delivery systems, and aerosol devices Documenting care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record What Makes This Role Unique Pulmonary Testing Focus: Ideal for therapists with PFT experience or those looking to grow in diagnostic respiratory care Variety & Mobility: Travel across WakeMed locations, expanding your clinical exposure and impact Patient-Centered Care: Make a meaningful difference across the continuum of care What We’re Looking For Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Required NC Respiratory Care Practitioner License – Required Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy – Required Pulmonary Function Testing experience – Preferred Certifications (based on patient population): Adult: BLS & ACLS Neonatal/Peds: BLS, PALS & NRP How You’ll Thrive Here (The Wake Way) At WakeMed, we lead with compassion, collaboration, and accountability.

Requirements

Candidates must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a valid NC Respiratory Care Practitioner License and an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Experience in Pulmonary Function Testing and certifications such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP are preferred depending on the patient population.
