Job Summary Associated Nephrology Consultants, located in Maplewood, MN, is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA)/Phlebotomist to join our nephrology practice.

This position will begin as a part-time per diem opportunity, with an anticipated transition to a full-time temporary schedule from approximately November 2026 through April 2027 to support clinic staffing needs. There may be potential for this position to transition into a permanent role based on organizational needs and performance.

The ideal candidate will have experience with phlebotomy and clinical workflows and will provide exceptional patient care while interacting with patients in an enthusiastic, courteous, and professional manner.

As a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist, you will play an important role in supporting physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities will include obtaining vital signs, performing phlebotomy, assisting with patient care, managing medical records, and supporting daily clinic operations.

Primary Responsibilities Assist physicians, nurses, and healthcare providers with patient examinations and treatments while ensuring patient comfort, privacy, and safety.

Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.

Prepare examination rooms and ensure supplies and equipment are available and maintained.

Perform clinical procedures including venipuncture, lab draws, urine specimen collection, and other duties within scope of practice.

Collect, process, label, and document laboratory specimens according to established safety and quality protocols.

Fax laboratory results to designated providers and mail patient results as directed.

Support patient flow throughout the clinic by assisting with rooming patients and maintaining accurate patient information.

Update patient histories and ensure medical records are complete and accurate.

Scan outside medical records, lab results, and general orders into patient charts.

Assist with administrative duties including managing medical records and answering/triaging patient calls.

Maintain inventory of clinical and office supplies and assist with ordering as needed.

Follow all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.

Provide excellent customer service and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required. Previous experience working in a clinical, outpatient, or healthcare setting preferred. Phlebotomy experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare team members. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining patient records and handling laboratory specimens. Basic computer skills with experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred. Ability to learn and adapt to new procedures, technologies, and workflows. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a healthcare team.
