Operates radiographic equipment to perform general diagnostic radiology procedures while ensuring technical quality and patient safety. Responsible for patient positioning, processing images, and maintaining equipment in compliance with department protocols.
Under indirect supervision, operates radiographic equipment using imaging modalities. Performs general diagnostic radiology procedures in compliance with department protocols. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Applies principles of radiation protection and provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures.

Demonstrates an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients of the age group served.

Able to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed in accordance with department policy. (Neonatal.

Adjusts technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the physical maturation of the patient.

Modifies patient positioning techniques relative to the patient’s physical and cognitive abilities.

Always takes special care in handling, positioning and/or restraining infants and geriatric patients to avoid injury or excessive radiation exposure.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience: California Radiologic Technologist Certificate required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification required. Minimum of 1 years of Radiologic Technologist experience required 2 years preferred Experience performing specialty radiology examinations required. Proficient in reading and reviewing digital imaging systems (PACS) required. Experience performing Arthrogram X-ray procedures preferred. California DEXA (Bone Densitometry) certification/licensure preferred. Strong knowledge of radiology safety standards, patient positioning, and imaging protocols.
