Overview

WakeMed is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Mammography Technologist to join our imaging team. In this vital role, you will combine technical expertise with patient-centered care to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services that support early detection and better health outcomes. Position Summary

The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality radiographic imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role ensures a safe, efficient, and supportive experience for every patient while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety standards and regulatory compliance. The Mammography Technologist reports to the Supervisor, Ultrasound. Key Responsibilities Diagnostic Imaging Excellence Operate mammography and radiologic imaging equipment to produce precise, high-quality diagnostic images Ensure all imaging meets clinical standards for accuracy and clarity Patient-Centered Care Deliver exceptional patient care with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency Explain procedures clearly to patients and families to promote understanding and ease anxiety Monitor patient conditions during procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and timely response to changes Procedure Preparation & Workflow Review physician orders and patient histories to prepare for imaging procedures Prioritize workflow and ensure timely completion of exams Position patients and equipment accurately to achieve optimal imaging results Data Integrity & Documentation Accurately document diagnostic data and maintain complete patient records Enter required information into electronic health systems in a timely manner Equipment Management Adjust imaging equipment based on physician direction and established protocols Perform routine equipment checks and minor maintenance to ensure operational readiness Report equipment issues promptly for repair or replacement Clinical Collaboration Partner with physicians and clinical teams to support interpretation of imaging results Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives Wake Way Behaviors At WakeMed, our team members embody our core values in everything they do: Respect for People: Demonstrates compassion, values diversity, and protects patient dignity Teamwork: Collaborates effectively and contributes to a positive work environment Commitment & Accountability: Prioritizes safety, integrity, and excellence in all work Communication: Engages with patients and colleagues in a clear, respectful, and supportive manner Wake Way to Excellence (WW2E): Continuously improves processes, reduces waste, and supports efficient workflows

Qualifications

Education Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program (Required) Experience Clinical experience in radiology or mammography (Preferred) Licensure & Certification Registered Technologist in Radiography (ARRT) – Required Registered Technologist in Mammography (ARRT-M) – Required Why Join WakeMed? Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with ARRT and ARRT-M certifications. Clinical experience in radiology or mammography is preferred.
