Upstate Veterinary Specialties is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician/ Medical Technologist to join our newly established in-house veterinary laboratory in Latham, NY. If you’re ready to apply your laboratory expertise to help diagnose and treat animals in need, this is your opportunity.

  • You’ll Do: Perform a wide range of diagnostic laboratory testing on small animal specimens Conduct analyses in clinical chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank, and microbiology Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality test results to support patient care Maintain laboratory equipment and uphold strict quality control standards Follow established laboratory protocols, compliance guidelines, and safety procedures Collaborate closely with veterinary clinicians to support diagnostics and treatment decisions

  • For: Associate degree (or higher) in a related field required ASCP certification preferred, with at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience (preferred but not required) Candidates without ASCP certification must have at least 2 years of experience in a physician clinic laboratory or similar setting Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory practices across multiple disciplines (chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank) Detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to accuracy and quality Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment New York State licensure (CLT, MT, or
  • CLS) preferred but not required if experience criteria are met

Requirements
