Under general supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Cath Lab Technologist assists in procedures, prepares patients for procedures (IV placement, blood collection, and site preparation), reviews patient chart to ensure consents and appropriate labs are in place, and monitors patients post-procedure (site management, vital sign and telemetry monitoring). The Cath Lab Technologist will ensure high quality, effective patient care, while working collaboratively to integrate the goals of the HVC with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. The Cath Lab Technologist functions as a member of the heart and vascular team; possesses skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the patient population.
Graduate of a school of vocational nursing or a medical radiologic technology program.
Candidates must be graduates of a vocational nursing or medical radiologic technology program and hold a current Radiology Technologist license in Texas. BLS and ACLS certifications are required within specific timeframes after employment.
