The Staff RN provides professional nursing care for obstetrical, postpartum, newborn, and post-surgical patients using the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
POSITION PURPOSE Under general supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Staff RN provides professional nursing skills utilizing the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for assigned patients.
Serves as a patient advocate within the health care system.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population, which includes obstetrical, postpartum, newborn, Level 2 nursery, and post-surgical patients.
Accountable for assuring the safety, comfort, care, and treatment of patients according to legal, ethical, professional and institutional standards.
Participates in the hospital’s Quality Improvement and Service Excellence programs.
Demonstrates understanding of the philosophy and objectives, and adheres to policies and procedures of the department and organization.

Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing required.
Candidates must be a graduate of a professional nursing school and hold a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NRP, and a Fetal Monitoring course, with one year of L&D experience preferred.
