Short Description The Registered RN is a professional caregiver, who as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame.

They supervise and provide care to these patients utilizing the nursing process, including the therapeutic use of self.

Key Responsibilities Follows established policies and procedures.

Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.

Provides excellent customer service, interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians.

Overview Kelemen North 7 is a 23-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit specializing in the care of traumatically injured patients.

Patients with injuries that are stable but require ongoing close monitoring are admitted to this unit directly from the ED or the Ross Trauma Admitting Area.

Patients are also admitted to the unit as they are downgraded from the Trauma/Surgical ICU or the Trauma Step-Down Unit.

Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care.

The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners and resident physicians.

Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery.

Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the trauma patient.

Experience Required A minimum of one year or more of RN acute care experience in an inpatient setting is preferred Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.

License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).

Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e., ACLS, NALS, PALS).

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing with a current NJ-RN license and BLS certification. A minimum of one year of acute care experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.
