Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive RN care in a high-volume ED, caring for neonates through geriatrics
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, perform 12-lead ECGs, and respond to dysrhythmias
- Administer medications and manage rapid clinical changes in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate with Respiratory, Radiology, Phlebotomy, Social Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response, Transport, and Unit Secretary to coordinate patient care
- Triage patients, initiate appropriate protocols, and support discharge planning and patient education
- Maintain accurate Epic charting and Omnicell medication system documentation; ensure compliance with unit policies
Requirements
- Licenses and certifications: NY RN license in hand at time of submission/start; BLS, PALS, NIHSS
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in Emergency Department; preferred 5 years of current ED experience
- Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with active NY license; other education not specified
- Skills and systems: Epic charting experience; Omnicell medication system experience; ability to interpret dysrhythmias and obtain 12-lead ECGs; telemetry experience preferred
- Compliance and testing: Relias EKG exam required within 72 hours of signing; onsite rhythm test; HealthStream modules (except specified exemptions) must be completed by the designated pre-start deadline
- Scheduling and duties: Willing to float within hospital per manager discretion; able to handle 4–6 patient assignments across shifts; minimal RTO of 7 days or less
- Onsite requirements: Flu vaccine required by 11/1; COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Documentation: Recent Nursys verification and professional references required prior to start
- Local residency restrictions: Candidates with permanent address within 50-mile radius are not accepted; several NY counties are excluded from eligibility
