The SLP is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in residents. This includes implementing goal-oriented treatment plans and providing AAC systems for individuals with severe communication disorders.

Friendship is looking for a Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist to join our Friendship Richfield Health Center team, located in Salem, VA.

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for preventing, assessing, diagnosing and treating speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in residents.

Roles & Responsibilities: Complete screenings and patient evaluations according to departmental policies and procedures Establish, implement and execute goal-oriented treatment plans and programs in coordination with other departments Evaluate treatment plan progressions to identify any deficiencies and make adjustments as may be necessary Provide aural rehabilitation for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder or progressive neurological disorders Work with people who don’t’ have speech, language, or swallowing disorders, but want to learn to communicate more effectively

Qualifications

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required Experience in a long-term care/rehabilitation facility preferred This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. Requirements

Candidates must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Experience in long-term care or rehabilitation facilities is preferred, along with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
