Overview UnityPoint Clinic CMA - Certified Medical Assistant Lakeview Internal Medicine Clinic West Des Moines, IA Monday-Friday 7:30AM-5PM - 1 day off/week 36 hours/week Full-time + benefits We are seeking a compassionate and patient-centered Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Lakeview Internal Medicine team.

This role is integral to delivering high-quality care to adult patients, supporting providers in the management of acute and chronic health conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, medication updates, and other pertinent clinical information
  • Assist providers with patient examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures
  • Accurately document patient information, orders, and communications within the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments in accordance with certification and organizational policies
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up instructions
  • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments to support comprehensive patient care
  • Collaborate with providers and care team members to manage patient needs and ensure timely communication of results and care plans
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection prevention and patient safety standards

Qualifications

Valid and current certification in the state of Iowa for Medical Assisting Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required: National Healthcare Association American Association of Medical Assistants National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant National Association of Health Professionals American Registry of Medical Assistants American Allied Health American Medical Technologists Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred Familiarity with EPIC a plus! For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and hold a current certification in the state of Iowa. Certification from recognized bodies such as NHA, AAMA, or NCCT is required.
