About the role

Provide direct care, monitoring, and emergent interventions for pediatric cardiac patients in the PICU. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement care plans and educate families on patient procedures and discharge.

Start date: 08/03/2026.

13-week travel assignment with a weekly pay range of $2,241–$2,362 and rotating 12-hour shifts (days/evenings/nights).

The role supports a Pediatric Cardiac Care Center (PCCC), the only pediatric cardiac care center in Western NY, caring for infants through young adults with complex congenital or acquired cardiac conditions.

On-call/callback and unit-based charging needs may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for pediatric cardiac patients in the PICU, including routine and emergent assessment, monitoring, and intervention.
  • Manage telemetry monitoring, respond to rhythm changes, and escalate to the multidisciplinary team as needed.
  • Administer medications and vasoactive infusions per physician orders, monitor for adverse effects, and document care accurately.
  • Collaborate with cardiology, surgical teams, respiratory therapy, and other disciplines to implement and adjust care plans.
  • Educate families and caregivers, prepare for procedures, and participate in discharge planning and care coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with unit protocols, patient safety standards, and accurate charting for all shifts, including on-call situations.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in New York (NY License ONLY)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with pediatric cardiac care preferred
  • Pediatric Cardiac Care experience required; telemetry proficiency
  • Certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS (American Heart Association); NIHSS
  • Ability to work a 3x12 rotating shift schedule (days/evenings/nights) and participate in on-call/callback as needed
