About the role

Provide focused inpatient care within the ICU setting. Perform critical care procedures including intubation, ventilator management, and various line insertions.

**Schedule

  • *
  • - 7 on / 7 off rotation
  • On-site from 7 AM to 7 PM; on call from 7 PM to 7 AM
  • One day of orientation followed by two to three days of proctoring

**Clinical Responsibilities

  • *
  • Focused on inpatient care only

**Procedural Requirements

  • *
  • Candidates must possess experience in Respiratory and Critical Care, as the position is entirely inpatient-centric.
  • Core Privileges & Procedures (for
  • MD/DO) do not necessitate proctoring but should be explicitly requested:
  • Moderate Sedation
  • Lumbar Puncture
  • Endotracheal Intubation and Extubation
  • Paracentesis
  • Thoracentesis
  • Ventilator Management, including assessing readiness for respiratory weaning, oxygen therapy, and extubation, as well as evaluating the need for intubation
  • Chest Tube Insertion
  • Insertion of PICC, Arterial, Central Venous Lines (either percutaneously or via cut down)
  • Arterial Line Insertion and Removal (both radial and femoral), which may be grouped under one privilege
  • Tracheostomy Care, including tube changes
  • Management of tension pneumothorax in emergent situations
  • External pacing, with the ability to adjust temporary epicardial, transvenous, or transcutaneous pacemakers as necessary
  • Proctoring is mandatory for five instances of each procedure.

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required

  • Submission of 50 inpatient logs from the last 12 months is required, including the ability to present and verify them.

**Licensure

  • *
  • Consideration for the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) is available; otherwise, a Michigan license is mandatory.
