  • Category: Health CareSUMMARY This provider renders physical therapy services to patients with neurological, burn/wound, or musculoskeletal injuries, or to patients with other acute or chronic physical disabilities through the use of physical therapy techniques to relieve pain, restore function, and facilitate independence. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to be successful. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following) Implement therapy according to the established plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment and techniques within the scope of physical therapy. Consult with other patient care team members to discuss patient progress, set objectives for patient treatment and integrate physical therapy treatment with other activities. Provide documentation of patient care according to established criteria. Participate in hospital and departmental inservices, medical conferences, staff meetings, continuing education courses, team meetings, and other related activities. Educate the patient and/or the caregiver about the findings of the physical therapists evaluation, established goals of the physical therapy program, home programs, injury prevention and other related information. QualificationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) must have an Associate degree approved by the American Physical Therapy Association. Current Iowa Physical Therapy Assistant license. Must have current BCLS certification. SKILLS AND ABILITIES A basic knowledge of computer skills is required. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with strong written and verbal skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally. Ability to work in a fast paced, rapid changing and regulatory environment.

Requirements

Requires an Associate degree approved by the APTA and a current Iowa Physical Therapy Assistant license. Must hold a current BCLS certification and possess basic computer skills.
