About the role

Assists pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of hazardous and non-hazardous compounded sterile preparations and non-sterile drug products. Maintains accurate records and follows established SOPs and USP guidelines to ensure medication availability for patients.

The Pharmacy Technician Hazardous Sterile Compounding is responsible for assisting Pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) and non-sterile drug products.

Under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and USP guidelines, prepares sterile preparations (CSPs) including both hazardous and non-hazardous sterile preparations and non-sterile drug products in order to ensure medications are ready and available for administration to the patient.

Maintains accurate records utilizing established policies and procedures.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma, a State of Connecticut Pharmacy Technician license, and PTCB certification. Candidates must have at least 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, including specific durations in non-sterile, non-hazardous sterile, and hazardous sterile compounding.
