  • Summary: The Lab Assistant supports essential operations within the clinical laboratory by performing phlebotomy, specimen processing, and a variety of rotating workflow tasks. This role ensures accurate collection, labeling, handling, and preparation of specimens to support high-quality diagnostic testing across the health system. Working within a collaborative laboratory environment, the Lab Assistant coordinates effectively with laboratory professionals and clinical staff to support timely turnaround of results. Responsibilities also include assisting with send-out coordination, inventory maintenance, and communication with care teams, while consistently upholding patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory standards in all aspects of laboratory support.

  • Responsibilities: Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using established safety and identification protocols to ensure accuracy and patient comfort. Process, label, and prepare specimens for testing or send out, following laboratory procedures and transport requirements. Maintain organized work areas and monitor inventory levels, ensuring adequate supplies for routine and specialty testing. Verify specimen information, resolve basic collection or labeling issues, and communicate with nursing or clinical staff to support timely testing. Enter and track specimen data in laboratory systems, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory and quality standards. Participate in rotating laboratory support duties as assigned to maintain efficient workflow across all service areas.
