As a member of the health care team, the Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs Myocardial Perfusion Imaging, Equilibrium Radionuclide Angiography (ERNA/MUGA), Cardiac Amyloid Imaging and Rest Imaging for cardiac Sarcoidosis using Planar and SPECT/CT imaging methods on adult and geriatric patients.
Processes and analyzes study data.
Labels Red Blood Cells (RBC’s) with radioactive isotopes using In-Vivo and In-Vitro techniques.
Measures, calculates, administers, and documents radioactive doses for cardiac nuclear studies.
Performs daily quality control testing on nuclear cameras and nuclear hot lab equipment for quality and safety.
Performs daily radioactive contamination surveys using a Gieger-Muller and nuclear well counter.
Complies with nuclear regulations and protocols governed by the State of Ohio Radioactive Materials Division (ODH)/Nuclear regulatory Commission (NRC), The Joint Commission (TJC), and the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
Adheres to all Cardiac Nuclear Medicine policies, protocols, and procedures.
Complies with radiation safety protocols in the safe handling of radioactive materials and keeping radiation exposure levels “As Low As Reasonably” Achievable” (ALARA) to patients, staff, and self.
Advises and collaborates with Heart and Vascular Center personnel, physicians, cardiology fellows, nursing staff, transplant coordinators, ancillary hospital departments and satellite offices to perform safe, quality, diagnostic procedures and to provide superior patient care.

Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues. 1.
