The Psychiatrist oversees the quality of care for patients, performing psychiatric assessments and directing treatment teams for both inpatient and outpatient services. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate documentation for reimbursement and complying with medical staff bylaws.
Graduate of an accredited medical school or foreign equivalent degree. Completion of an accredited residency program in psychiatry OR at least be in the 6th month of PGY-3 or higher in an ACGME-accredited Psychiatric Residency or in a Psychiatry Fellowship Program PGY-4 or higher. If seeking privileges in specialized areas (e.g., child & adolescent, geriatric, addiction, etc.) completion of an accredited fellowship in the respective field. Prior experience in psychiatric practice, within specialty, within the past two (2) years. New Grads: Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency and/or fellowship satisfies this requirement. Current Residents or Fellows: In at least the 6th month of the PGY-3 or higher, and in the process of completing an accredited psychiatry residency or fellowship program satisfies this requirement.
