About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant will prepare patients for urologic examinations and assist providers with specialty procedures such as cystoscopies and catheter insertions. They are also responsible for documenting patient encounters in the EMR and coordinating follow-up care and prescriptions.

Description Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Urology team. The ideal candidate is passionate about providing exceptional patient care, enjoys working in a fast-paced specialty practice, and thrives in a collaborative environment. The Certified Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to deliver high-quality urologic care while ensuring an outstanding patient experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome and prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints. Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during urology examinations and in-office procedures. Prepare patients for procedures including cystoscopies, catheter insertions and removals, bladder instillations, uroflow testing, post-void residual (PVR) bladder scans, and other specialty procedures. Assist with specimen collection, including urine samples and laboratory testing. Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens as needed. Administer medications and injections within scope of practice and provider direction. Educate patients regarding treatment plans, medications, post-procedure instructions, and follow-up care. Accurately document patient encounters, procedures, and provider instructions within the electronic medical record (EMR). Process prescription refills, referrals, prior authorizations, and patient messages. Coordinate follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, and specialty procedures. Maintain exam rooms by cleaning, disinfecting, and stocking supplies and equipment. Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and company policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with providers and staff to maintain efficient patient flow and excellent customer service. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent nationally recognized certification. High school diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Current CPR/BLS Certification. Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting. Strong understanding of medical terminology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism. Preferred Previous Urology experience. Experience assisting with specialty procedures. Knowledge of catheter care, urologic conditions, and patient education. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Experience with Athena, eClinicalWorks, or other EMR systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, and assisting patients during examinations and procedures. Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and assist with clinical procedures.
