Blue Ridge Health is currently seeking a PRN (as needed) Psychiatrist to be part of our Behavioral Health team in Waynesville, NC.
The Psychiatrist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing and treating patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include:
Position is to provide ACTT psychiatric services and oversight for our team that serves Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties.
Analyze and evaluate patient data and tests or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of behavioral health disorder.
Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat behavioral health, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on general physical condition and behavioral health disorder.
Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment.
Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
Collaborate with other behavioral health professionals to discuss individual patient treatment plans and progress.
Maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives and other professionals.
Counsel outpatient appointments during office visits.
Serve on committees to promote and maintain community behavioral health services and delivery systems.
Act as a Collaborating Provider for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
Responsible for understanding and following the BRCHS-Meridian Performance Improvement Plan and established safety policies and procedures.
Responsible for understanding and participating in all aspects of the BRCHS-Meridian Corporate Compliance Program.
Builds a positive work environment by working cooperatively within department and with other areas through teamwork, interpersonal skills, and personal improvement/initiative.
Medical degree from an accredited University.
Board certification in psychiatry.
Five years of clinical practice experience.
Currently licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
