Medical Scribe East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking Medical Scribes to support accurate, timely, and organized provider documentation. This role is ideal for individuals who are comfortable in clinical settings, understand medical terminology, and can capture patient encounters with focus and professionalism.

About the Role

The Medical Scribe works alongside physicians and providers to document encounters in real time, improving workflow and allowing providers to remain focused on patient care. This position requires discretion, fast typing, careful listening, and the ability to follow clinical direction closely. Key Responsibilities Document patient encounters in real time under the direction of the provider. Record history of present illness, review of systems, exam findings, procedures, clinical decision-making, results, and disposition details. Track labs, imaging, consults, reassessments, and updates relevant to the patient encounter. Enter documentation accurately into the EHR while following provider instructions and facility standards. Maintain awareness of patient flow and support provider efficiency without interfering with clinical care. Protect patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in patient care areas. Clarify documentation details with the provider when needed to support accuracy. Follow HIPAA, documentation, compliance, and facility communication expectations. Scheduling and Availability Full-time and part-time schedules may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on provider coverage needs.

Requirements

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical terminology knowledge required. Prior scribe, medical assistant, clinical documentation, or healthcare experience preferred. College coursework in healthcare, biology, nursing, pre-med, or related field preferred. Strong typing speed, listening skills, accuracy, discretion, and professional communication.
