ICU Experienced Registered Nurse East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking ICU experienced Registered Nurses who are prepared to care for critically ill patients with complex needs. This role requires sharp assessment skills, comfort with high-acuity interventions, and the ability to remain composed during rapid clinical changes.

About the Role

The ICU RN provides advanced nursing care for patients requiring intensive monitoring, critical drips, ventilatory support, invasive lines, and close interdisciplinary coordination. The ideal candidate is clinically disciplined, collaborative, and committed to both patient safety and family communication. Key Responsibilities Provide direct care to critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced nursing intervention. Manage or monitor ventilated patients, cardiac rhythms, central lines, arterial lines, titratable drips, and ICU protocols. Recognize subtle changes in patient condition and escalate concerns quickly to providers and the care team. Coordinate care with intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, lab, radiology, and surgical services. Respond to codes, rapid responses, emergent changes, and critical patient deterioration. Educate families with clarity and compassion during complex and emotionally difficult situations. Document assessments, interventions, medication titration, response to treatment, and care progression thoroughly. Support safe transitions between ED, OR, ICU, step-down, and transfer destinations. Scheduling and Availability Full-time and part-time schedules may include 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and night coverage based on ICU staffing needs.

Requirements

Qualifications

Active RN license in the State of Texas or compact RN license in good standing. ICU experience required. Current BLS and ACLS required. CCRN preferred. Experience with ventilators, critical drips, cardiac monitoring, and high-acuity patients strongly preferred.
