The Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse delivers high-quality, patient-focused care throughout the perioperative experience. This role includes preparing patients for surgery, monitoring recovery from anesthesia, and ensuring a safe transition from the surgical environment to the next phase of care. The ideal candidate demonstrates critical thinking, calm under pressure, and exemplary communication with patients, families, and surgical teams.
Key Responsibilities Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for patients in pre-operative and post-anesthesia phases.
Monitor vital signs, airway, and pain levels during the recovery process, intervening promptly when needed.
Administer medications and provide education on post-operative expectations and discharge instructions.
Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and the OR team to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation in compliance with all hospitals and regulatory standards.
Support departmental processes for infection control, safety, and continuous improvement.
Current RN license in the State of Texas (in good standing). Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred). Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required Minimum one year of acute care experience; previous Pre-Op and/or PACU experience Demonstrated ability to remain composed and professional in fast-paced settings.
