The HIV Prevention Medical Assistant provides patient care for patients currently on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and interested in starting PrEP. This role also may be involved in coordination of long-acting injectable (LAI) PrEP and HIV medications used for treatment as prevention. This role assists with daily care and performs various medical tasks including but not limited to vital signs, point-of-care testing, outreach, medication administration, phlebotomy, and documentation. The medical assistant also performs administrative duties including medical case management and prescription coordination as assigned.
Requires graduation from an accredited medical assistant program or 5 years of clinical experience, with CPR and Phlebotomy certifications. Must obtain Certified Registered Medical Assistant certification within 90 days of employment.
