About the role

Provide 1

1 supervision and community-based support for a brain injury survivor to foster independence. Responsibilities include transportation, emotional support, and collaborating with a treatment team to achieve client goals.

Hinds' Feet Farm, Inc. is hiring a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide 1:1 support for a male brain injury survivor. This DSP will assist with community-based support that may include self-care tasks. The goal of this position will be to provide 1:1 supervision and support that will foster his independence.

The direct support professional (Dsp)

Preferred Criteria

  • Certified Brain Injury Specialist
  • Experience working with individuals with TBI
  • Other: Developmental disabilities and/or mental health experience

Basic Requirements

  • Be 21+ years old
  • Valid driver's license, insured personal vehicle, clean driving record, and 5 + years of driving experience, and an acceptable level of automobile liability insurance
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry
  • CPR and First Aid certification (can be provided)
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of basic physical/psychological needs and health/safety procedures
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training regarding brain injuries and best practices
  • Ability to follow all NC DHHS regulations, confidentiality rules, and organizational policies
  • Ability to complete assigned training within 30 days
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to stay positive and professional throughout the workday
  • Ability to use computers and office equipment

Day-To-Day

Our Direct Support Professional - DSP - works Monday through Friday 8

  • 30am - 4:30pm providing 1:1 support, maintaining a therapeutic and respectful attitude as you assist with:
  • Transportation and participation in our Day Program (government mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Emotional support, socialization, and community engagement
  • Recreational, professional, and educational activities
  • Team collaboration and ongoing communication (supervisors, case managers, family members, etc.)
  • Individual supervision, crisis intervention, and detailed documentation

You'll work with the treatment team to achieve the best outcomes for the client, collaborating as needed to adjust processes and meet goals.
