Staff Nurse (LVN) | Cathedral City, CA | Full-Time $30 – $35/hr |Nightshift, + Shift Differential |12-Hour Shifts

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a qualified and compassionate Staff Nurse (LVN) to join our team at Banyan Palm Springs in Cathedral City, CA. The Coachella Valley has a strong and deeply rooted recovery community — and a real need for skilled, caring clinicians to support it. This role puts you at the center of that work, delivering direct nursing care within our inpatient behavioral health, substance use, and mental health treatment programs, with the backing of a nationally recognized organization behind you.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of an RN and medical provider in accordance with protocols and scope of practice

Assist in completing nursing assessments and admission documentation within established timeframes, with assessments reviewed and co-signed by an RN as required

Administer medications and treatments as prescribed; provide medication education as directed

Monitor patient medical status, report changes promptly, and assist in initiating appropriate interventions, referrals, or emergency response

Monitor patients for psychiatric symptoms, medication effectiveness, and safety concerns, reporting changes to the RN, provider, or treatment team as appropriate

Apply sound clinical judgment in crisis situations, including suicide risk awareness, de-escalation, and patient safety interventions, escalating as required

Accurately transcribe, document, and implement provider orders, including verbal orders when permitted

Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary team members to support integrated patient care

Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with licensure, accreditation, and organizational standards

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission standards, and applicable regulatory requirements

Support medication management and controlled substance processes in collaboration with Compliance and nursing leadership

Participate in in-service education, department meetings, and staff meetings as required

Qualifications

Required

  • Active, unrestricted LPN or LVN license in California
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress or emergency situations
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient confidentiality, ethical practice, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team

Preferred

Minimum two years of nursing experience, with experience in SUD treatment and co-occurring mental health disorders in an inpatient setting strongly preferred

Working knowledge of nursing standards of care for patients with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring diagnoses

Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems

Lived experience with recovery is highly valued

Requires an active, unrestricted LPN or LVN license in California and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred candidates have at least two years of experience in SUD and mental health inpatient settings.
