What does a typical day look like for the Medical Laboratory Scientist? You will: Perform a full range of laboratory testing using manual and automated methods, evaluate results, and resolve testing issues using scientific principles. Evaluate and resolve problems with specimen collection and processing, maintain and document equipment performance, and perform calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. Perform and document quality control and assurance activities, adhere to biosafety and biosecurity regulations, and identify and resolve discrepancies. Respond to inquiries about test methods and results, interpret findings, and recommend follow‑up testing. Verify, edit, and enter laboratory data into the LIS, recognize and report critical values, and fully document communication. Evaluate and implement new techniques and procedures, communicate effectively with healthcare staff, and provide guidance based on laboratory principles. Organize work to meet deadlines, properly process and validate specimens, and ensure accurate labeling and specimen integrity. Process, package, and ship reference laboratory specimens in compliance with regulatory requirements, document test orders, meet shipment deadlines, and report critical values per policy. Support operations by reviewing, scanning, processing, and documenting specimens and manifests. What qualifications do you look for?
