About the role

The RN provides high-quality compassionate care to patients and families by assessing needs and developing collaborative care plans. Responsibilities include specialized cardiac care, telemetry monitoring, and providing essential patient and family education for post-hospitalization self-care.

Per Diem Requirements- must have extensive experience in Med/Surg and able to work two-12 hour shifts per month's schedule with one shift being on a weekend. Must be able to attend 3 consecutive days of orienataiton.

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families.

The RN assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode.

The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skill in the area of cardiac care including telemetry monitoring.

The RN is accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Minimum:

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program.

Preferred

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

LICENSE

Minimum:

  • Current NYS License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.

Professional certifications

Minimum:

BLS and ACLS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.

CPI obtained within 90 days of hire.

Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire.

Work experience

Minimum:

  • Analytical skills to assess, prepare, implement and evaluate the outcomes of the plan of care patients and families
  • Preferred:
  • One to two years of successful performance as an RN in an Acute care setting.

SKILLS

Minimum:

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.

Computer literacy

Preferred:

Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current NYS license and certifications in BLS, ACLS, CPI, and Basic Coronary Care. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and one to two years of experience in an acute care setting.
