About the role

The Medical Assistant is responsible for rooming patients, collecting medical histories, and assisting providers with clinical treatments such as bone marrow biopsies. They also handle administrative tasks including scheduling, insurance authorizations, and triaging patient communications.

This full-time position has an anticipated hourly pay range of $ $23.00 per hour – $30.20 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients and accurately collects and records patients’ medical history; including vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns.
  • Prepares treatment room, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Prepares procedural area and assists with treatments including bone marrow biopsy specific to the provider’s direction.
  • Assists with scheduling routine appointments and check out procedures.
  • Prepares bone marrow specific to the physician’s direction, and anticipates needs of the provider, and other providers.
  • Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
  • Consistently maintains and updates medication knowledge, staying current with industry trends and standards, attends in-services internal or external.
  • Prepares and administers medications as directed by provider and in accordance with cCARE policies and procedures.
  • Requests insurance authorizations and schedule appointments for STAT procedures including but not limited to blood transfusion, paracentesis, thoracentesis and brain MRIs.
  • Documents receipt, assists with ensures completion of disability and other miscellaneous forms/ letters in a timely manner.
  • Effectively assists with E-Prescribing, authorizing drug refills and physician and Physician Dispensing.
  • Triages phone calls and routes and relays information in a timely manner to staff and providers in a timely manner.
  • Daily review and processing of voicemails, reminders, and emails.

Requirements

A Medical Assistant diploma and current CPR/BLS certification are required, along with prior experience as a Medical Assistant. Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred for this role.
