Short Description The Nursing School Critical Care Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and supports the overall plan of care.

This role involves direct communication with and support for the healthcare team, patients, and their families or significant others.

The position requires maintaining high standards of professional ethics and contributing to the delivery of quality patient care within the organization.

Support patients’ activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, transport) and follow standard precautions Perform technical duties as directed by RN (phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care) and document appropriately.

Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN and respond appropriately, maintaining safe patient practices.

Reinforce education for patients and families regarding care needs and safety.

Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives, performance improvement activities, and assist in orienting new hires.

Complete annual hospital and unit-specific competencies by the required due date.

Consistently adhere to safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe environment and high-quality patient care.

Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, visitors, and coworkers.

Capacity to identify and communicate changes in patient status.

Overview Kelemen North and South 9 is a two-sided, seventy-six bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit.

Our staff care for a variety of patient populations, including cardiac, trauma, gastrointestinal, and psych.

To support our staff are Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) which help with patient care, through put, and assignments.

Nurses who are staffed on Kelemen 9 are required to have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications, which will allow competent and safe care for our complex patient populations.

Experience Required 0-2 years’ experience required.

Able to complete phlebotomy and EKG training if not a part of the fundamentals of nursing course or within 90 days of hire- will be offered through orientation Education Requirements High School/GED required.

Successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing course with clinical in an accredited nursing program and maintain active enrollment in nursing school required.

Field of Study: Registered Nursing License/Certification Requirements AHA Basic Life Support certification.

Completed at least one fundamental nursing course with clinical in an accredited nursing program and maintain active enrollment in nursing school.

Special Requirements Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers required.

Phlebotomy/EKG competency/venipuncture experience preferred.

Shift Requirements 7AM-7PM 4 shifts every 6 weeks 3 weekend shifts, 1 weekday 1 major winter, 1 major summer, & 1 hallmark holiday Salary Min ($) USD $18.00 Salary Max ($) USD $29.00

Requirements

Requires a High School diploma and active enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing course. Must hold an AHA Basic Life Support certification.
