Overview Unity Point St. Luke's Full Time, Nights Monday-Thursday 10pm-7am The Computed Tomography Technologist performs diagnostic Computed Tomography and X-ray exams (based on department needs) under the direction of a radiologist The Computed Tomography Technologist I provides compassionate direct patient care with an emphasis on maintaining organizational values and standards of behavior. The Computed Tomography Technologist I operates diagnostic CT and X-Ray (as appropriate) equipment to produce diagnostic images of designated portions of the body to meet the national standards for dose reduction and assists radiologists and/or physicians in the administration of contrast media and other medications as required. The Computed Tomography Technologist I is required to participate in an on-call rotation outside of business hours based on department needs and must be able to work some weekends and holidays. Correlates the CT exam with other tests & preparations to best pronounce the disease process. Produces high quality imaging procedures with precision, accuracy, and in a timely manner for the Radiologist to interpret. Assists Radiologists, other physicians & peers with procedures. Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence. Is responsible for their own actionsand actively works to improve in areas that are lacking. Proactively identifies problems and communicates these concerns with CT Leaders, seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, practices self-development and continuous learning. Practices & monitors radiation protection for patients, employees & oneself during all procedures. Disposes of bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and chemicals in an appropriate manner according to OSHA standards and guidelines. Adheres to hospital & departmental safety regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures & protocols.
Education: Graduation of Radiology program accredited through the American Registry of Radiologic Technology approved by IDPH required. ARRT Advanced Level Certification in CT required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Requires graduation from an ARRT-approved radiology program and current ARRT certifications in both Radiologic Technology and Computed Tomography. Must hold a valid Iowa Department of Public Health permit and CPR certification.
