The Registered Nurse gathers and analyzes patient information, develops and implements individualized care plans, and educates patients and families. They communicate patient status and interventions effectively during consultations and rounds.

The Saint Joseph Mercy Health System 5 East Orthopedic unit is a 32 bed in the Med.
Surgery unit.
It takes care of all adult orthopedic patients including total joint replacements and repair of fractured hip patients.
Our experienced nursing staff provides excellent Relationship Based Care and is devoted to the orthopedic population.
We are Joint Commission Certified for total knee and total hip replacements.
This unit includes 32 private patients' rooms each with a private bathroom and shower.
Our patient population consists mainly of Total Knee and Total Hip Replacements, hip fracture patients, and general orthopedic patients.
We also accommodate general medicine patients.
Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.
· Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
· BLS.
· ACLS required for the following departments: Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Candidates must graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold a current Michigan RN license. A BSN is preferred, and candidates must have the ability to obtain a BSN within five years if not already held.
