The HIM Medical Records Clerk ensures the quality maintenance of patient medical records in compliance with federal and state laws. They work as part of a records management team to meet TJC standards for patient care.

Position Summary

The Health Information Management Medical Records Clerk participates as an integral member of the records management team by ensuring the quality maintenance of patient information/medical records, within all laws, rules and regulations of federal and state licensing agencies, and TJC standards for the quality of patient care. Qualifications

Job Requirements Education

Graduate from a Health Information Management program preferred; high school graduate or equivalent with some college courses required.

Experience

At least two (2) years experience in health care information management/medical records and a thorough knowledge of medical terminology required. Familiarity with ICD 9/10 coding.
